Dr. Curtis Dugas is a well-rounded, Board certified in Periodontics and Diplomate in International Congress of Oral Implantologist (ICOI) periodontist and dental implant surgeon trained at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, the Misch Implant Institute, and the Pikos Institute. He served as a Captain (O-3) in the United States Air Force, where he held the role of Chief of Periodontics and instructor for Advanced General Dentistry residents—lecturing and supervising complex dental surgeries and intravenous (IV) sedation procedures. He has been recognized multiple times as “Company Grade Officer of the Year” for his leadership and clinical excellence.
Dr. Dugas focuses on treating gum disease, dental implant surgical placement and bone regeneration, full-arch implant solutions, soft tissue (gum) esthetic and plastic surgery, advanced bone regeneration, accelerated orthodontics, and IV sedation.
Through managing complex surgical and restorative cases, Dr. Dugas observed a consistent link between oral health and airway dysfunction. This experience inspired him to expand his expertise—he is now advancing his career toward board certification in dental sleep medicine, with a focus on treating obstructive sleep apnea.
While Dr. Dugas takes teeth seriously, he doesn’t take himself too seriously. Before dentistry, he was a professional bass player who performed in orchestras and jammed with bands all over New Orleans. He was even a voting member of the Recording Academy (aka the Grammys®) — so yes, he knows his way around both a scalpel and a stage.
